Four of Cups
The Shadowscapes Tarot
This week’s card comes from the Shadowscapes Tarot by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law and Barbara Moore. This version of the Four of Cups shows a mer-person gazing into the water, lazily making ripples in the surface. While the mer-person is distracted with their own thoughts, four sprites fly off with four cups.
With the Four of Cups there is a sense of contemplation and possible nostalgia. There may also be a sense of loss or longing. Normally, these feelings come and go. However, with the Four of Cups, these emotions are all consuming. They grab a hold and an awareness of anything else that is going on, fades.
The Four of Cups also indicates a time for introspection and mediation. It can be a way to look at where these emotions and thoughts are coming from. What is causing them? Where are these thoughts coming from? How did this suck me in?
Be wary of spending too much time in your thoughts this week. Gifts and blessings may be presented to you, but if you are stuck gazing into the water, you may miss them. Make sure to be aware of your surroundings. Don’t miss the opportunities that pop up around you.
