Card of the Week, 11: 11/24/14

Presumably, due to the strong winds yesterday, the internet and cable were knocked out. The plan was to get the post started and finish at my boyfriend’s house. Things don’t always go as planned; sometimes we just have to roll with it. I apologize for this being a day late.

13. Death
The Wild Unknown Tarot
Major Arcana

This week’s card comes from the Wild Unknown Tarot and one of my favorite decks. The deck was ready to go and almost instantly, Death flipped over while being shuffled.

When Death comes up in a reading, the reaction is sometimes to flinch. However, Death is not typically associated with a literal death. It tends to me more associated with the death of an idea or cycle, the ending or letting go of something. Which can sometimes seem just as scary. It can be necessary to let go of what isn’t working for you though. Dead weight can drag you down.
Death is more than just an ending. Where there is an end, there is a new beginning. The death card is also about transformation and starting a new cycle.

I see this week being a good week to do some Fall cleaning- physically, mentally, and spiritually. Let go of what is not working for your. You may even want to use the exercise here, to learn what needs letting go. Get rid of clutter. If you are someone with an altar, you may want to renew the energies. And if you are inclined, light a candle or warm some of your favorite scented oil while cleaning this week. This week may also be a good time to go through your closet and donate gently used clothes that you don’t wear anymore.
Just as the trees are shedding their leaves in parts of the world, shed your dead foliage and prepare for renewal.

This week’s card really lines up with my card of the day on Instagram. They were both drawn in the same day. Talk about synchronicity!

The new year will be upon us before we know it, so make sure to purchase a Wheel of Your Year reading for insight into what the new year may have in store for you!
