There are 4 steps to creating your magic life. And step one is clarity. Because what is more important than knowing where you are going and what you are creating?
Omg! So you are looking to create the life of your dreams! To create that life that lights you up, feeds your soul, and gets you excited to get out of bed in the morning!
I’m so excited for you! And I get it! I think we all want to live fulfilling and happy lives!
And we are so excited to take steps to get there! We rush in and start trying to make things happen. I know I have!
But then I get there, or I get halfway there, or a couple steps in even, and I realize this isn’t actually what my magic life looks like. Does this sound familiar?
We start going after something we think we want, only to find out it isn’t actually what we want.
So, before you start taking any more steps! Let’s go back to what I call Step 1! The step that we often miss in our excitement and rush to get to the end goal. Clarity!
Step 1. Clarity
The first thing we need to do is get clear. We have to determine what it is we truly, deeply, and actually want.
We don’t live life in a vacuum. I mean, physically we actually couldn’t as humans. But what I mean here is that there are messages we are picking up all the time, whether we know it or not.
Messages on what we should want. Messages on what life we should have and what that looks like. Messages about worth and what lives are worthy. Messages about love and what lives get us love. And so much more!
So we think that decent people should want x kind of life, which means doing x kinds of things.
Like going to college and graduating at 22. Getting a 9-5 job immediately after graduating. Settling down – buying a house, getting married, and having kids by 25, 28, and not later than 30.
These are just some examples.
And because we are so inundated with these messages, day in and day out, all day long – they seep into our unconsciousness. They get in there and they play in the background of our minds. Seeping into our beliefs, wants, and desires.
In order then to get to the heart of what we actually want. The core of our heart. We have to dig past all of the shoulds and supposed tos that these messages have given us.
How do we do this?
The best way I’ve found to do this for myself is through journaling.
I follow the trains of thoughts as I write. Asking myself questions along the way. What questions to ask comes with practice, intuition, and some training. For me, my social work training has definitely helped, then going through the program required me to practice it. Intuition is something we all have.
So, we journal. We ask ourselves questions. We dig deeper. We ask ourselves “Is this it? Is there anything deeper? Do I really actually truly want this?”
