Hi! Welcome to the first episode of The Money Mindset Shift with Shelby Melissa! That’s me!
Money mindset and energy work is so important to me. Like, when I think about talking to you about this, it wells up within me with such force that it causes my chest to tighten and I feel like I could puke.
We need money to live. In most societies today, it is a necessary resource for survival. Worrying about, thinking about, counting, and grasping for this man made resource takes up so much of our energy. And we literally get such shitty programming around it, that is perpetuated on this obsession with it and glorification of it.
“But wait. Shelby, isn’t this a podcast about money?”
Yes, and no. Let me explain.
The focus of this podcast is about out money mindset, how we think and feel about money, and reprogramming the disempowering stuff we’ve been given about it.
But these programs are not neat and perfect. You can think of them more like a tangled ball of yarn, many different strands coming together, getting tangled and stuck.
As we begin to loosen up the ones relating to money, we begin to see the strands relating to other things. Worth, love, how we are in the world, and how we relate and experience the things in it.
And that is why I also say no.
But don’t get me wrong. We do focus a lot on money. But instead of glamorizing it, we are seeing it for what it is, a man made resource that is distributed unequally and that access to is structurally limited for many people.
Here is what you can expect:
Most episodes will be discussions and reflections from myself on topics relating to mindset and energy work. We’ll be debunking myths, addressing disempowering habits and thoughts, even addressing empowering ones that maybe get taken a little too far at times (like radical self-responsibility), answering questions, reading from my own journal at times, and even taking 5-10 minutes to do a quick meditation here and there!
There is so much that we’ll be sharing together!
However, it is important to share that I am a white cisgender American, so much of my perspective will be as such. I have privilege and grew up in a middle-class family. Because of all of this, I want you to understand that our experiences, our programming, and the new beliefs we come to, will probably vary. Take what I say, filter it through your own authority, and come to your own conclusions.
With all of that said, I welcome you to The Money Mindset Shift!
